IPL 2022: Knockout Ajinkya Rahane of Mahendra Singh Dhoni lost 44 centuries when the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 here at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.
In the hunt for 132 KKR starting goals, Rahane and Venkatesh Iyer started their team well when they recorded 43 powerplay runs. CSK finally breathed a sigh as Venkatesh was captured by Dhoni while delivering Dwayne Bravo.
Nitish Rana then joined Rahane and calmed the CSK pitchers for a short time and left after recording 21 laps, with 76 laps on the board. After Ran's disqualification, Rahane also died in a delivery of Mitchell Santner, when he was caught by Ravindra Jadeja, so the team left 87/3 overall on 11.4.
KKR captain Shreyas Iyer and Sam Billings went into battle and anchored the shift. The two scored 123, but before they could make it through the winning streak, Billings was eliminated by Bravo for 25 runs.
Later, Shreyas, led by Sheldon Jackson, finished the game with a lead of 6 goals and 9 balls left in his hand.
Previously, Dhoni scored half a century without defeat and gave the CSK, led by Jadeja a decent 131/5, after facing an early loss to goals.
